Owned and run by the operators of the Calhoun Square Bay Street Shoes, this outlet occupies a brightly-lit corner of Edina 5-0 Building. This location also offers clothing and accessories from brands like Isda & Co, Three Dots, Shu Shu, HOBO International, and One Girl Who. The clothing selection is a hodgepodge and difficult to pick through, as the low-slung racks are jam-packed. Duds seem generally targeted at women in their 50s and 60s, with more conservative cuts including pleated pants and ankle-length skirts. But although there are an alarming number of tassels and rhinestones lying about, the brands are quality and might be worth rifling through.
The real draw, however is the shoe selection. This location doesn’t carry brands that cater to slightly younger feet: lacking are the John Fluevogs and Campers that give the Calhoun store its edge. But for high-quality shoes that won’t turn your feet into a blister-fest, Bay Street can’t be beat. Clunkers like Uggs and Frye boots sit alongside sleeker pumps and slingbacks from Franco Sarto and Van Eli. Crunchy granola Keens and Privos are tempered by beautiful basics from Kenneth Cole and Nine West. This place is no DSW in terms of selection, but they choose carefully and wisely. Nary a shoe in the place will make you tilt your head in confusion, and practically every pair could walk with you from morning to midnight without causing a twinge of discomfort.
Toward the back is a messy but rewarding sale section loaded with deals and steals – don’t forget to pop back there if you’re bargain hunting.
