Shop here for: Of-the-moment pieces, fabulous party frocks, status denim, special clothes for special occasions
Gray granite floors, white walls, and thoroughly modern hanging lamps conspire to make Bumbershute feel entirely chic from floor to ceiling. Oh, and the racks of incredibly desirable duds help just a smidge.
This shop is not for the demure of taste, nor the scant of savings … but if you’re in the market for a luxe leather hoody, purple satin pencil skirt, or magenta chiffon strapless dress, look no further. Flipping through the Missoni M knits, Rock & Republic denim, and Valentino Red dresses will make you sigh with longing. Most of these pieces are either super dressy or super casual; Bumbershute isn’t the shop to visit if you’re looking for conservative work wear. Silky skirts and flowy floor-length frocks hang alongside skintight tank tops and destroyed denim, but there is nary a navy blazer to be seen.
A few luxe handbags from the likes of Botikier, Bulga, and D&G are scattered about the shop, peeking out from high shelves and inset shadowboxes. A small selection of on-trend jewelry sparkles quietly from well-lit cases, and eternally fashionable sunnies from Prada and Versace beckon.
Despite the high-end stock, staffers show not a single sign of snootyness. They’re cheerful and friendly, clearly aware that drooling over unattainable designer duds is no crime. So even if you’re not in the market for a new gown, do stop in and look around. Browsing is free, and even encouraged, in this chic boutique.
