Due to sheer volume of merchandise and extremely loose methods of organization, Nu Look is undeniably overwhelming. Merchandise is grouped by type - seldom by size or color - so a stop here means engaging in some serious digging. But this two-floor consignment emporium is well worth an afternoon’s worth of browsing, as both fairly-priced pieces and breathtaking bargains abound.

House buyers stick to well-known labels both middle-range and high end, so you’re unlikely to find many mystery labels. Banana Republic skirts for $18 and Talbots slacks for $30 abound, but poke around a bit more and you’ll find Missoni sweaterdresses for $198 and Burberry button-downs for $62. The shop boasts an amazing selection of leather coats and jackets - everything from Cole Haan to Nine West and prices ranging from $200 to $40. There’s designer denim aplenty, and a small rack of designer formalwear that’s well worth poking through.

Although most of the women’s merchandise is on the top floor - including two enormous racks of blazers - the basement houses the shop’s collections of dresses and shoes, neither of which should be missed. Most frocks are of the casual jersey variety, but the occasional printed shirtdress or sexy sheath turns up. Shoes are hit or miss, but hits can mean unworn J.Crew pumps or gently loved Michael Kors boots, so do take a peek. The basement also boasts rack upon rack of sale merchandise at 50% to 75% off the original Nu Look price. Again, organization is lacking, but if you’re in the mood to browse, you can find some astonishing deals down there.

Allot any less than an hour to this consignment haven and you’ll be giving yourself short shrift. Set aside a chunk of time and immerse yourself in hunting for bargains.
