With a pink, purple, and olive green stucco exterior and starkly contrasting black and white awnings, Shop in the City grabs your attention from first glance. The interior of the store is quite large, with the front area dedicated to a large wrap desk brimming with fun and funky costume jewelry, the middle room packed with trendy garments, and the back room offering a selection of home goods.

Jewelry is affordable and tends toward the sparkly, with rhinestones and layered chains aplenty. Several types of monogram necklaces, a few funky brooches, faux pearls, and shoulder-duster earrings peek out from amongst the knick-knackery. Quilted Vera Bradley bags hold one end of the gamut, while oversized metallic faux leather purses hold the other, and there’s relatively little in between.

Clothing offerings include youthful slogan tees and printed thermals, but also include drapey black knit vests and cardis, dusters and artful hoodies, and embellished skirts. Colors tend to be dark neutrals, and they stand out against the center room’s Oriental rugs and bright white walls.

Shop in the City is definitely a hodgepodge, but that makes it a great place to browse around. If you take the time to explore, you’re bound to find something that suits your taste.
