Description

A subsidiary of Patina, Shoppe Local does carry many of the same vendors, but as its name suggests there’s a local bent to every product. Twin Cities artisans contribute to the store’s wares, and Minnesota-themed goods abound as well.

The space is clean and bright, with giant front windows to let in loads of natural light, exposed brick walls, and sumptuous hardwood floors. Tables in the center of the space offer gifts, snacks, books, graphic tees with Minneapolis-centered slogans, and miscellaneous handcrafted goodies. Look right for bright shelves offering feather-embellished headbands, ornate bead-and-ribbon statement necklaces, and wild leopard-print clutch handbags encrusted with pyramid studs. The checkout counter brims with layered chain necklaces, funky leather earrings, tagua nut chokers, and floral brooches.

Move back through the shop and you’ll pass handcrafted leather bags and belts by Adrienne Grahn, scarves and hats from Ms. Stitch, and recycled sweater scarves. The back area holds inventive clothing from Foat Design, sassy knitwear, graphic tees from Rectangle, and plenty of duds with serged and exposed seams. Everything is displayed on airy free racks, or in caged lockers. A small selection of Minnetonka mocs and boots sits quietly at the very back, beckoning to trend hounds.

Obviously, this is not the place to shop for basics or workhorse items. But if you’re seeking a little spice for your wardrobe, and hoping to keep your money in the local pool, Shoppe Local is a great place to look for one-of-a-kind accessories, jewelry and clothing.
